On 10 November Sophie Cole (the Programme Leader for PGCE Secondary Education Art & Design) from Northumbria University will be visiting College to talk to students about routes in to teaching.

This is a must attend event for those of you considering a career as an art teacher, especially L5 & 6 - applications to Northumbria have just opened for next September entry.

Northumbria have said they will interview everyone who has the following…..

A well written persuasive personal statement

GCSE A-C in Maths and English Lang

Degree at 2:1 or predicted (as predicted specifically on academic reference)  from a programme with substantial arts content– we also admit 2:2s if there is substantial experience / reasons, but this is exceptional;

Experience in a secondary school art department;

  • National Skills tests passed or booked (must show proof of registering and booking at interview) within 1 month of the interview;
  • Portfolio of work describing a successful project usually from degree and also showing drawing skills / ability.

  • More details will follow but likely venue is Folio between 11 and 1:30
